The Bodies Exhibition

I went to the Bodies Exhibition at South Street Seaport the other day 

it was pretty creepy and weird to know that every body and all the organs where from real people

it was very interesting and you do learn a lot

they have a stress game thing and guess what I won twice 

to me the most interesting part was the lung part 

it really got my attention because they showed healthy lungs, lung that had cancer and  lungs from a person that smoked

every pack of cigarettes you smoke takes 3 hours and 40 minutes off your life

my best friend smokes and I really want her to see and read this and see what she is doing to her body

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

So last week we went to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Times Square

it was a whole lot of fun

we took so many pictures 

I don't know how I narrowed them down from 259 

my favorite part was the 15 minute 4D Happy Feet movie

it was so cool, we got splashed with water, poked in the back, wind blown at our necks, there where bubbles being blown to simulate that we were underwater

The Met...

yesterday Leyla and I went to the Met

we mainly went to see the Alexander McQueen Exhibit

it was super hot and sticky yesterday so we were happy to be spending the day inside

the subway ride was long but we saw a poster for Coney Island

the line was not long which was good

when we got in we sort of rushed to the McQueen exhibit but stopped at 

Night Vision: Photography After Dark

then we went to the Alexander McQueen exhibit

there was no line to get in but it was really crowded (obviously)

when you walk in you see two beautiful dresses 

then there are a lot of rooms showcasing his work from different collections and some pieces he designed at Givenchy

the exhibit shows the incredible detail in all of his designs and amazing tailoring which comes from his training as a tailor

there where many beautiful head pieces by Philip Tracy

but I have to say my favorite pieces where all the shoes

there where quotes from McQueen all over the exhibit

there where videos from different runway shows of his like It's Only a Game collection 

and this video which was my favorite from the Spring/Summer 1999 collection

I really loved the room with the It's Only a Game collection because of all the mirrors and 

the idea for the collection was a chess match between America and Japan and all the ensembles corresponded with a particular chess piece

the embroidery on the ensembles was beautiful

there was a hologram of Kate Moss from Fall 2006 fashion show

the last collection was Plato's Atlantis 

which included Lady Gaga's Bad Romance outfit and my favorite shoes from McQueen the Dragon heels

I plan on going at least one more time before I leave in August

Bad Romance ensemble

Sandy Hook

so yesterday my cousins Leyla, Anna, Zoe, their friend Grace, their babysitter Mo and I went to the beach

we took a ferry from pier 11 to Sandy Hook in Jersey

it's about a 40 minute boat ride 

$43 roundtrip for 13 and up and it's free for 12 under

when we got there, there was bus that stops at 3 different beaches

first one is clothing optional

second one is a walk away from the concession stand

third one is the most kid friendly

we stopped at the third one

it was pretty crowded and the waves were humongous

but still a very nice beach

we packed a picnic lunch

they sell food there but it's crap(fried crap & frozen custard)

women and makeup

    

a recent study of 3,00 women administered by Superdrug (a U.K. chain store) shows that 1 in 3 women refuse to leave the house without any makeup 

6 out of 10 women say they would not go to work without makeup on 

these women said that a bare face would harm their career and reputation

                      1 in 4 said she would likely be ignored for a promotion 

 almost 40 percent of women said their managers would perceive appearing without      makeup as grungy and unkempt   

.    
over one-third of all 3,000 women studied thinks that her significant other would not have been attracted if she hadn't been wearing cosmetics when they met

 and the average time it took a woman to feel comfortable enough to show her partner her makeup-free face was two and a half months

shockingly about 14 percent always wakes up earlier than her partner to put on a face of makeup before the other wakes up

one in 10 women admitted she would flat-out never let her better half see her without makeup

meanwhile I think everyone should watch this video promoting natural beauty
